Weekly Weigh-In (Week 6 ~ Day 1)

Well, it's Friday so I just got on the scale for my weekly weigh-in and I weighed 152.0

I lost .6 pounds and I'm really happy about that! My goal was to get under 150 and that didn't happen, but I'm not dissapointed - not one little bit.  More than the number on the scale - my clothes are fitting better, I'm down another inch around my waist, and I feel more in control of what goes into my mouth.  Rather than feeling "restricted" on the BFC, once I got past the sugar/carb detox and and the longer I eat the BFC way, I actually feel like I have more choices.....not less.  I find that I'm thinking less about what I can't have now and more about what I can.  I'm experimenting with new foods and even finding ways to make some old favorites fit into this way of eating. Call me  strange, but, I think it's kind of becoming a fun challenge now to see what meals/snacks I can put together that fit the BFC guidelines.

I've moved the goal of getting under 150 to next Friday, June 1st.  That is mine and my husband's 16th wedding anniversary so that would be a great day to have it happen.

I'm going to make sure to eat fish atleast once, if not twice, next week.  For some reason, whenever I eat fish, it spurs on my weight loss.  I'll probably make tilapia scampi.  Here is the recipe that I use: http://www.5dollardinners.com/2010/08/scampi-tilapia.html  I always double the butter/garlic sauce because we like to spoon it from the baking dish over our fish before we eat it.  Our Kroger (King Soopers) sells tilapia in 2 1/2 lbs bags for $9-$11 depending on if they are running a sale.  Each tilapia is packaged separately so you just take out the number that you need and then put the bag back in the freezer.

Anyways, here is what I ate yesterday:

Breakfast: My morning shake; Yerba Mate chocolatte tea

Snack: Almonds

Lunch: 2 Scrambled eggs with cheese, almond butter with Redi-Whip

Dinner: Tuna salad on 3 celery sticks; 2 crackers (this may not sound like alot but the celery sticks were large and FULL of tuna salad.  It was very filling) :)

We have evening activies on Tuesdays and Thursdays so dinner is always low-key and kind of hodge-podge.  I forgot to take a photo but here is a photo that I took a few months ago of the same meal. My dinner last night looked exactly like this (but with 2 crackers instead of the bread and butter).

This afternoon, along with our sons' Boy Scout troop, we'll be placing flags at the cemetery for the Veterans. We're also planning on making some more smoked chicken and having our families over sometime this holiday weekend.  That's all for now. Have a great weekend!!

  1. I don't really like fish that much (wish I did) but I do love shrimp scampi. I've been trying to think of ways to get myself to eat fish. What a wonderful idea to make the fish scampi style. What doesn't taste better with fresh garlic? Will get some Tilapia with my next grocery order - thanks!

    1. I agree... I love shrimp the best (and LOVE shrimp scampi)!! I have to get creative to find recipes to cook other types of fish (tilapia, salmon, cod, etc..) just because I feel better when I eat it. I really like this recipe and if you like scampi-style, hopefully you'll like it too! :)

  2. I'm feeling the same way Kim. Inspired by what I can eat. Not fearing fat has opened up a lot of possibilities for me that are tasty and satisfying. I really don't miss grains at all. If I had to give up dairy ... that would be another story :)

I eat tilapia too (it is actually one of the fish selections that are low in mercury so it's a good choice health wise). I season mine with Himalayan sea salt, pepper and some spices and panfry it in coconut oil. I'm going to check out your recipe though - sounds yum.

My weight has been stalled for more than a week ... I'll see what this week brings :) Jorge posted yesterday, “Women's weight loss is all about carb cycling based on your hormonal stage. This is a critical secret I will be talking about over the next few weeks. Would you like to learn more in this?? Of course I said, “Absolutely”. I do notice at least one week a month things seem different weight wise. Sure would love to know if there is something we could do to compensate for that diet wise.

Focussing on your health and not just your weight helps to stick to your eating plan even when the weight isn't moving much. You know that eating this way has so many health benefits beyond your weight ... but it is satisfying when the scale goes in the right direction. Measurements are a good idea because I notice my body changing even when the scale is staying the same. Looking forward to your weigh in report next week (I have to start blogging my stats too). I think it’s important to have patience too, I think a lot of people get discouraged when it doesn’t “appear” to be working and they start cheating. Hold the course … you’re doing so good!

  3. In the beginning I too thought I was sacrificing things and as I started losing weight I realized that I wasn't at all.
I think your tuna in the celery looks great.

The carb cycling thing he is copying for lots of other people. Its just 1 day eat high carbs, next day eat low carbs, and next day eat no carbs. I am not sure of what order will work best - but if you do like I suggested and eat your carbs one day then the next no carbs - I'm sure that will work.

Kim are you sure you're not hungry?? You don't seem to eat enough to me??

    Have a great day :-)

    1. Hi Rosalie.. I haven't heard of the carb cycling... is that what Jorge is talking about on Facebook? If so, I'll have to check it out.

I've been very satisfied after every meal but then again I'm at a good point right now in my "montly cycle" and have been for the past week - but I expect my appetite to really pick up next week. That's when I will be getting close to "that time of the month" and my appetite always gets stronger. Hoping to breeze through that week with everything I've learned - and although I may feel more hungry, I'm hoping to make good food choices. I'm sure I will - I'm really liking the foods I've been eating lately. :)

  5. I think you are doing great and making really good choices! I have tried to eat more fish over the last 6 months or so too. Sadly it is all deep fried, but I take a lot of the coating off. I love fresh white fish.
What you are feeling will continue and this lifestyle will become a wonderful habit!
