I made it to the 140's ~ Weekly Weigh-In (Week 8 ~ Day 1)

Are you ready for this.... I reached the 140's!!  My weight today is 149.8!!!  That's a loss of 1.2 lbs this week.

My new goal is to be in the 130's by July 31st. That's pretty realistic at the rate that my body seems to be losing. I know as I get closer to 125-130lbs. that the weight loss may slow down even more but I'll take it week by week, adjusting my final goal as needed. I will NOT give up if it takes me longer because I plan to eat like this for the rest of my life anyways.

I have had many situations this week (an Anniversary, a birthday, a bbq) where I could have told myself that it was ok to eat whatever I wanted because I could just get back on track the next day (like "planning" to sin because you'll just ask for forgiveness afterwards)!! Yes, we can always get back on track the next day BUT I'm trying not to let that be my excuse for "planning" to slip-up.  Does that many any sense?  In the past, I would attend a function (birthday, BBQ, holiday, etc..) and tell myself before I even got there that I would eat whatever I wanted and then get back on track the next day because, well, it's a special occasion, birthday, holiday, etc, etc, etc and I don't get these treats every day, right?  But, once I ate the sugar/high carbs, I craved them the next day and it was harder to get back on track than if I had said no in the first place or just eaten a bite or two. I try to be aware of this behavior in myself. Now, when I go to a function,  I try to look for the BFC friendly items.  And like Rosalie says, if there is something I really, really want, then I have that 1 item but only 1-2 bites.  I have had to change the way I view food but I definently have not felt deprived.  I am eating delicious, satisfying food and I am happy! :)

So, with that said, here is what I ate yesterday:

Breakfast: My morning shake, green tea

Lunch: Tuna and mayo on celery; English muffin (low-carb) with butter and Nature's Hollow jelly on one half and butter and Bragg's Nutritional Yeast on the other half

Dinner: Hamburger patty (no bun); 6 fritos; almond butter with Redi Whip

I had every intention of making Rosalie's cauliflower crust pizza last night for dinner but forgot that our town was sponsoring it's annual All-Town BBQ.   Every Thursday, from now until mid-August, our town sponsors a free concert at the lake and last tonight, since it was the first concert, the town sponsored a free BBQ. They served hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, cookies, and drinks. I ate some almond butter and Redi-Whip right before we left because I was craving it, and then at the lake I had a hamburger patty (no bun), 6 fritos, and a bottle of water.

Looking forward to the weekend - we're taking the kids to our town pool tomorrow.  Have a great weekend!  See you on Monday.

  1. Congratulations, Kim! I agree with you about eating off plan, but I do have exceptions. I don't like to eat off plan for the "typical" away from home occasions, like potlucks, BBQ, birthday parties, etc., but for specific foods that I LOVE but can only have every now and then (place of purchase is out of town) I do have a planned splurge for it. For me, right now anyhow, there are a few things that there's no way I will keep it out of my life completely. For those things, I would truly feel deprived, and that's when things get harder for me. If I don't feel deprived I actually have more control over myself.

    1. I do agree with you on that. We just have too many birthdays, bbq's etc. to justify eating off the plan at all of them. But, for example, my husband and I had sushi on our Anniversary and I didn't even think twice about eating it because it was a special meal and we love sushi and don't get to eat out a nice sushi bar very often. :)

    2. And I should have clarified that for me the issue is binging. So, if we do go to a function it's not that eating what is served will hurt me in normal amounts occassionally - it's eating 6 desserts and half a bag of chips that will. :(

  2. Congrats on the new weight! You are making sensible, positive choices! You are embracing the occasions and not running from them. You are happy with your choices, not beating yourself up because you really "wanted" something. When you really, really, really want it, you'll know!
Your town sounds so cool and your family must love doing those events. That is something they will remember forever!

  3. You know that is where many people go wrong on the BFC. They say that it's a special occasion or holiday and eat whatever. But if we do that all the time the weight will catch back up with us.
You are doing so great and will be at you goal very soon. It took me quite a while on those last 10lbs.
    Have a great day :-)

  4. Kim, that's the way I think also. I can't have a binge day and get back on track the next day. I have to always stay on track. Eating too many chips at Chile's is about as binging as I get. I so happy you got into the 140's!! It's so motivating! That lake sounds wonderful!

  7. Kim! Wonderful! My week was not so productive and I'm not sure why - I stayed on plan completely. You can read my thoughts over at my blog but it is what it is and I just plan to keep going.

Since I started this eating style in late February I have not binged once. Since I went grain free I've only had a little something once or twice (ie. today when I ate 4 pieces of breaded calamari my guys had to have). A week like this gets me thinking of what I need to change to move forward but I’m not going to jump the gun and assume I need to change anything. I’ll see what next week brings. I have faith in Rosalie who tells me if I just stick with the plan it will come off – maybe not as fast as I’d like :)

I just know that binging on sugar or carbs is not only harmful for that moment but you will pay for it for days. I decided early on I’m not willing to pay the price – once my cravings for these things lessened – it was easier to say, “no thank you”.

Best wishes for the coming week!

  8. Hi Kim. As usual I'm behing on the blogs. Caught up on all of yours. Congrats on the loss, and handling all of those kids for the party. Can you tell me again what's in your morning shake. I think I might like to try making one for the summertime. I'm sure it's on your blog somewhere, so just point me in the right direction. Thanks, and sending love and hugs!!
