Week 6 ~ Day 7

Happy Thursday  ~  Only one more day until the weekend - YEAH!

I'll start with what I ate yesterday:

Breakfast: My morning shake, green tea

Lunch: Jorge's flax muffin with blackberries, walnuts, and almond milk

Dinner: 2 Hot dogs with homemade chili, cheese, and mustard

Snack: Almond butter with Redi-Whip

We had dinner at my parents.  My dad makes the best chili.  I tried to figure out the s/c's the best that I could before we ate.  I only had about 1/2 cup and poured it over 2 hot dogs and then topped them with mustard and cheese.  The best part was that I didn't have to give up my dad's chili - I just ate a smaller amount than I use to.  And you know what??  It was really good and I was totally satisfied!!

Our town is having their annual "Crazy Days" this weekend.  Hundreds of garage sales all over town.  I love garage saleing.  My husband and I will be leaving town around noon to celebrate our anniversary but I think I'll take the kids out in the morning to look around.  I'm not looking for anything particular - just having fun looking :)

The sunset was really pretty last night.  There was a ribbon of purple and pink in the sky.  I took a picture but just wasn't able to capture the full beauty of it.

Then right after I took this picture, I turned around and this is what I saw...... my husband writing letters on Brooke's back before she went to bed.  All of our kids have had their little bedtime routines.  Brooke and Grant get a story read to them and then letters drawn on their backs.  I love that my husband takes the time to do this every night.  That's why I married  him 16 years ago tomorrow - he's the absolute best!!

Tomorrow is my weigh-in day so I'll check in and post my weight before we leave town.

Hope everyone has a great day!!

  1. Kim,
Happy Anniversary!! Hope you guys have a wonderful time. Love the letter drawing, by kids liked that too, they'd try to guess the letter.
What is in your morning shake? I tried to click on it but it wouldn't open for me.

    1. Hi Beth,

I had cut and pasted it from yesterday and the link must not have come over with it. I just corrected it so you can try it again.

I know - letter drawing is the best. Sometimes my son wants to draw them on my back too but I always end up falling asleep when I'm suppose to be guessing letters :)

  2. Hi Kim, yesterday or today - it won't let me follow the link to your shake. Can you post it again for inquiring minds??

That's so funny your anniversary is tomorrow. Our bdays were close and so is our anniversaries (mine is May 27th). Happy Anniversary!

I've been married 12 years this year but my husband and I dated for 10 years before that (I know ... what took so long) so I usually think of "us" in terms of the whole time (22 years!!) Yikes ... my husband is a wonderful guy too. I know a few friends of friends going through horrendous divorces where the men are acting like no person I know (just awful). I feel grateful everyday :)

    1. Hi Trina,

I'll have to do some research on the link to the shake. My link works but I just had my daughter log in and when she clicked on the link it told her that she didn't have access to that page. Hmmm.... I'll let you know when it's fixed - but for now you can search in my blog for "morning shake" or just go directly to the archives and it's in the blog post on December 16, 2011. Hope that helps.

You want to know the funniest thing?? My husband and I dated 6 years before we got married, so this year it is our 22nd year together as well. By chance did you start dating your husband on March 30, 1990?? That would be too coincidental! Have a great day Trina :)

    2. OMG - total embarrassed moment ... I had to ask my husband about our first date (he remembers everything and sadly I remember not much). He said it was August 25, 1992! That means it's only been 20 years ... LOL ... I asked him if he was sure it was 1992 and he even knew what movie we saw and sent me online info about it and it was released in 1992. What do I know?? …

  3. Hi Kim, I love all the food that you eat - but for me I don't think it would be enough. I think I would be hungry.
I really love big yard sales like that. You all should have fun.
I love your pictures and that is so sweet of your hubby to do that every night.
You are lucky - Happy Anniversary and have a great time :-)

    1. Hi Rosalie.. Thanks for posting - I feel very full and satisfied after meals. I LOVE piecing together lunches - I love all the choices that I can combine to make a BFC meal. I happen to see the calories each day because they automatically show up in My Fitness Pal. My calories yesterday were 1,481 so I probably wouldn't add many more than that. I will look at adding more veggies and fiberous foods - especially if I start feeling hungry. Thanks for your input -Its always appreciated :)

    2. Total calories confuse me. I was worried about them being too low as I didn't want metabolism to slow down or body to think there was a famine and start holding onto fat. Being over 40 also plays a factor in our weight loss journey. Ultimately, I’m trying to listen to my body – if I’m not hungry I don’t eat just because it’s lunch time. I try to eat when I’m hungry and stop when I feel satisfied (but never full). Drs. Eades do say even eating low carb that you must still create a calorie deficit to burn fat. If you’re a healthy weight (and eating low carb) calories matter less because you won’t lose weight but you don’t seem to gain either (your body finds a way to burn off what you don’t use). That makes sense to me.

  4. Happy Anniversary! When we find the "right" one, life is joyous! I had to learn that the hard way, but the journey to the right one makes me even more appreciate of what I have.
I used to do that with my kids to help them to learn their letters. My daughter does it with my 2 year old grandson and he knows all of us letters and what sound they make. He is a little genius:) When they were old enough, I would read long books to them, Old Yeller, White Fang, Where the Red Fern Grows, The Island of the Blue Dolphin, what happy memories that brings back! My 24 year old son will still lay on my lap and ask me to rub his back. It is kind of weird since he is 6'4 and 225+ lbs!!!
I'm smiling:) Thank you for that!
When I first started BFC I ate a lot of chili dogs, but with Costco's Cattleman chili. One serving had 5 sugars! Yikes...but I would cut up 2 hot dogs in there and feel like it was a feast! It kept me going, and that's what it's all about.
I think you are eating enough calorie wise. If you feel hungry, that would make me wonder, but it looks about right to me.

    1. I agree - finding the "right" one makes life joyous - I am blessed beyond measure. I use to love to have my backed rubbed as a little girl (and still do). My grandma use to "tickle" our backs with her long beautiful nails. Great memories! I love that you still rub your grown sons back - no matter how old they get, they'll always be our little boys & girls. :)
