Nutritional Yeast Seasoning (Wk 7 ~ Day 5)

A few months ago I was in my local health food store (The Vitamin Cottage) and one of the clerks was raving about Bragg's Nutritional Yeast Seasoning.

 She said that it was high in the B vitamins and was excellent on popcorn, eggs, and anything that you would normally sprinkle cheese on.  I brought a bottle home and the first thing I tried it on was popcorn.  Oh my goodness!! It was so good.  I didn't add any salt or extra butter to my popcorn - just the seasoning.  It was so yummy and cheesy tasting. So yesterday I was making chicken tacos for lunch and I decided to sprinkle some on top, and again, so yummy!  I love this seasoning.  This particular brand has no sodium and does have Vitamin B-12 (which some brands do not). Have you ever used it, and if so, what foods do you put it on?  On a side note, has anyone found a good microwave popcorn?  If I don't have time to pop my own, I will microwave Act II Butter Microwave Popcorn.  It's the only one that I can find that doesn't have transfat.

Breakfast: My morning shake, green tea

Snack: Provolone cheese, almonds

Lunch: Chicken tacos (2 corn tortillas, shredded chicken breast, cheddar cheese, avocado, sour cream, Bragg's Nutritional Yeast Seasoning)

Dinner: Rotissere chicken breast, brocolli, 1/2 cup creamy tomato soup with 2 croutons, ceasar salad, 2 chunks of pickled beet -  And, I did not have 1 single bite of dessert - I was too full!! 
My parents took mine and my sister's families to an Italian buffet restaurant in Denver called Cinzetti's.  Excellent food but not carb-friendly at all.  If you are trying to eat low-carb,  you have to have a LOT of will power to walk into this place.  In fact, the chicken breast that I ate was the ONLY protien option that was not breaded or covered in sauce.

  1. I heard about nutritional yeast a long time ago and could not find it anywhere. I am going to sprouts today and will look again.

  2. I have never heard of that? I just started taking vitamins etc. when I started BFC. I wish I would have started younger.
    I don't eat popcorn except for at the movies, so I don't know what is good. I know pinterest has a lot of good ways to use regular popcorn in the microwave?
    You are doing great and it is going to pay off!

  3. Yes, I use this as well. Like you, I sprinkle it on anything that would taste good with cheese. I use it mostly on vegetables.

  4. Well, I've never seen this stuff before. I love cheese though and it it has a cheese taste I'm sure I'd love it! I'll look for some next time I'm out! I think, like Daisy, I would like it to flavor veggies.
