Weekly Weigh-In (Week 10 ~ Day 1)

This morning, I woke up at 6:00am which is later than normal.  My husband was leaving for work and said something like, "I'm leaving.....Wow, your sleeping in like it's a weekend or something".

Ha - I had to laugh because I've spent the last 3 weeks driving my kids to play rehearsal, fitting costumes, helping with make-up, and helping backstage. Since last night was opening night there's no rehearsal today so it sure feels like a weekend morning to me.

My husband never wakes me up but he does make me a shake every morning and once I hear the blender going I get up.   This morning I didn't wake up....never even heard it. I went to bed totally exhausted so I can't imagine how tired my kiddos are.

They have one show tonight and two tomorrow. It's been a fabulous experience for them and as always, I love working with, and getting to know, the other parents.  It's been a great experience all around!

I was back-stage at both the dress-rehearsal and the show last night so tonight will be the first time I'll get to be in the audience.  The show is Pirate of Penzance and my son is a pirate and my daughter is "Mabel" so I've been dying to see it and hear them sing.  I've been at many rehearsals but always in different rooms fitting cosutmes so tonight will be a treat.  I'll take lots of photos and will be sure to post a few on Monday.

Okay now for my weekly weigh-in.  My weight this morning was 149.4 lbs.
That's a weight loss of 1.2 lbs. since last Friday and a total weight loss of 6.0 lbs over the last 9 weeks.

It's been a slow and steady weight loss, with a few minor set-backs, but lots of learning experiences along the way so I couldn't be happier.

Let me remind you that this Monday I was up a few pounds after eating lots of carbs on Father's Day so I am super happy about this. I've been weighing myself every day since then so I knew I was headed in the right direction.

Here's what I ate yesterday (sorry no photos, I was in and out of the house so quickly):

Breakfast: My morning shake; green tea
Lunch: Salad with roast beef, salami, havarti cheese, walnuts
Snack: Macadamia nuts
Dinner: Chicken salad
Easy to throw together when you have roasted chicken ready to go!

We'll I think I may go back to sleep now..... just kidding (kind of).  I think a bomb went off in my house yesterday (which is hard to believe since we weren't home very much) so I should go access the damage and maybe get some laundry started.  Since I don't have any food photos to share today, look at this cute photo that I took of Brooke and Grant on Wednesday. I looked in the living room and this is exactly how they looked - too cute!

  1. Good morning Kim! I was waiting for your post ... yeah for you!! Slow and steady wins the race ;) I can't believe you get up that early ... what time do you go to sleep?? I'm a night owl (it's a belly bad habit I need to break). I know I don't get enough sleep and I certainly don't get up at 6 am ... lol. I drag myself out at 7:30 to get the kids ready for school. Better sleep is something I need to work on for sure. I was up late reading Wheat Belly :)

    1. Hi Trina.

I've always been a morning person - never been a night owl. On a "normal" night as soon as the little kids get ready for bed (around 8:30pm) I start getting ready myself. I read, get on the computer, or watch a little TV and "usually" fall asleep beteen 9pm and 10:00pm. That usually gives me between 7-8 hours of sleep. I get up around 5:00am.
Also, when I can, I take a 20 minute nap in the afternoons around 1 or 2. I can "power nap" - I can seriously fall asleep within a matter of minutes and feel totally refereshed when I wake up. I'll wake up and ask my kids, "How long I've been asleep"? and they'll say, "20 minutes", even though it feels like it's been 3 hours!! I'm lucky like that - otherwise, I'd never make it through the day. I can tell that my weight loss stalls when I get less than 6 hours of sleep at night.
Have a great day Trina!! :)

    2. I'm a terrible napper. I couldn't even nap when my kids were babies and I was living on no sleep. Talk about sleep deprivation. I'm sure I get about 7 hours but I'm sure I need more. I'm going to make an effort to get down by 10:30 and see how it goes. It's just so nice and peaceful at night I don't want to miss it by sleeping ... lol. I enjoy the quiet of night-time and just want to soak it up but it's not doing me any favours so it's time to try and change it up.

    3. Your "peaceful" time at night is like my "peaceful" time in the morning :) I NEED that hour or so before my kids wake up (that's actually what gets me up - I get my blog post done and drink my shake first thing). So I do understand what you mean! :)

  3. Great job on the weight! You are a busy, busy girl! What a true blessing! My kids used to do children's theater for summer Bible camp. It was so amazing. Such good memories.
I guess I didn't realize that you had a Grant too? And if you mentioned it before, which you may have, this is what you have to look forward to when your brain quits working properly!
Thank you for your posts, they make me happy!

    1. Thanks Kay!!

I'm glad my posts make you happy - they make me happy when I write them and share them with others (primarily because it keeps me connected to my BFC friends like you)!!

They also keep me accountable and are nice to look back on. I told my husband recently that no matter how busy life gets I HAVE to post M-F, atleast until the weight is off (even if it's a super quick post with what I ate the day before). It's nice to have a record of how things progressed and also to let others know what has worked and hasn't worked for me.

Thanks for your comment - they also make me happy :)

    2. My pleasure! And, the reason I don't post what I eat anymore is because most of the time it is not something that would be not be healthy for others. Maybe I should think about what I just said!!! I don't want to say what I eat because it is unhealthy? Not good right! Hmmmm....

    3. Isn't that the truth though!! I HATE having to post that I ate junk so sometimes knowing that I have to post about it keeps me from eating it - wierd, hu??

    1. Hi Rosalie... I am 5'4".

I'm setting my goal at 130-135 lbs but I'll see how I feel as I get closer - I may adjust that number - we'll see. Before I was married, I didn't even weigh 110 (I only know that because I didn't weigh enough to give blood). Not ready to make that my goal - I think 130-135 sounds pretty good right now.
